And my final year-end blog tracks my movie viewing during 2020…
I feel like this is the one that lockdown really kicked in the teeth – so many fun-looking flicks were on the cards for 2020 – Black Widow, Wonder Woman 84, F9, No Time to Die, Top Gun Maverick, Free Guy, Morbius, Eternals… But in the end, the only movie I actually saw in a cinema was The Rise of Skywalker. I love the experience of seeing a film on the big screen, but I’m not willing to risk my health for it, so I’ll wait…
In the meantime, Netflix filled some of that gap and not only offered up stuff that I might otherwise have passed by, but also movies that I’m pretty sure I would never have even heard of, like Project Power and John Was Trying to Contact Aliens.
Among my top picks for 2020 were submarine flicks Hunter Killer and The Wolf’s Call, Extraction (easily the highest-octane actioner of the year), The Old Guard and Le Mans ’66: Ford vs. Ferrari.
