My short story “Museum Peace” appears in Short Trips: Dalek Empire, a Doctor Who anthology.
Everybody remembers Doctor Who’s most terrifying monsters, the metallic, murderous Daleks!
Here they come again in a collection of scary yarns–luckily, the good Doctor in his many incarnations is on hand to guide us through the terrible events before, after, and during the Daleks’ ruthless onslaught.
AUTHOR’S NOTES
I was over the moon to be brought on board for this anthology with Big Finish and Doctor Who veteran writers Joseph Lidster, Ian Farrington, Simon Guerrier, Justin Richards and Nick Briggs for this, the 19th volume in the Doctor Who Short Trips series. As a writer there’s that big list of “things I’d love to do” you keep in the back of your mind, and if you’re lucky you get to cross stuff off it as you progress through your career; thanks to editor Nick Briggs for allowing me to put a line through ‘Write the Daleks’.
Short Trips: Dalek Empire features stories set in and around the Dalek Empire audio drama series, created by Nick; the series, which stretched over three ‘seasons’ of one-hour full cast audio CDs, tells the story of a group of humans living under the oppression of a galactic Dalek invasion and their struggles to defeat the alien menace. The book also contains an afterword by Nick and his script for the audio drama Return of the Daleks.
My contribution to this collection is a short story called “Museum Peace“, a story featuring the 8th Doctor travelling alone and Kalendorf, one of the focal characters from the first two Dalek Empire audio series.
“Museum Peace“ was later released as an audiobook, read by Nick Briggs, as part of the Short Trips Rarities series. The story was also reprinted in the Short Trips RE:Collections anthology.
