AUTHOR’S NOTES
The Dark Veil is a tie-in to the television series Star Trek: Picard, and the story centres on the characters of Will Riker and Deanna Troi in an adventure aboard the Starship Titan. Set a year after Jean-Luc Picard’s resignation from Starfleet (as seen in flashback in the episode “The End is the Beginning”) and several years before Will and Deanna retire from the service (as mentioned in the episode “Nepenthe”).
The cover art is by the amazing Jim Salvati – you can see more of his work here – and I think he did a terrific job showing Riker and Troi in their era-accurate uniforms!
It was a thrill for me to revisit the Titan once again – I’ve previously written about the ship and its crew in my novels Synthesis, The Poisoned Chalice and Sight Unseen – and it was a unique challenge to write in the ‘new’ continuity set up by Star Trek: Picard.
Long-time fans of the Titan series may notice some differences, but also some familar faces too…!
The Dark Veil is a Locus Magazine and Amazon #1 Bestseller, and is also published in Czech and German (including a special hardcover “fan edition”).
