Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits
Disney Infinity 3.0 adds Star Wars to the ever-growing collection of Marvel, Disney and DisneyPixar characters, stories and worlds. Together new heroes can join forces with characters from previous editions and embark on adventures as big as your imagination in the 3.0 Toy Box! Disney Infinity encourages you to play your way, whether you explore open-world creation in the Toy Box or story-driven gameplay inside Play Sets!
Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set
Engage in Jedi battle and epic lightsaber combat with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, or call on Yoda and Obi-Wan as they battle evil and fight to stop an old enemy’s vengeful plot!
Set at the height of the Clone Wars, between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the plotline of Twilight of the Republic follows the Jedi as they fight to discover who is behind the rise of a new army of Battle Droids that threatens the stability of the galaxy; the characters of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano are packed with the playset, and players can also pick up Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Darth Maul as separate figures.
Star Wars: Rebels Playable Characters
Four characters from the Star Wars: Rebels animated series are available to play in Disney Infinity 3.0.
Crafty and clever, Ezra Bridger is a Force sensitive streetwise Padawan who uses his unique custom Lightsaber to undermine the Imperial forces and help ignite the Rebellion; Zeb Orrelios is as strong a brawler as he is headstrong, and he stands alongside his fellow Rebels with his bo-rifle in hand, ready to oppose the Imperial forces; Sabine Wren is Mandalorian Rebel with twin blasters and a talent for sabotaging the Galactic Empire, and former Jedi turned rebel fugitive, Kanan Jarrus leads bands of rebels in covert operations to help overthrow the Empire.
AUTHOR’S NOTES
To say that I was enthused about being part of this project is a bit of an understatement – in a “that’s no moon” kind of way. Here I am, an aging geek born and bred in the Star Wars generation, who still remembers that moment of awe at the Dominion Theatre in 1978, as the Star Destroyer thundered over my young head. That nearly four decades later, I was once again metaphorically caught in the wake of that engine roar, was just too damn cool.
I had an absolute blast working with the talented crews at Ninja Theory and Disney Interactive on Twilight of the Republic in 2015 and together we built something that was not just neat figures and virtual toy boxes – it’s a true Star Wars story written play out like a lost episode of The Clone Wars cartoon series, with all the action and thrills, fun and high adventure of the best of the saga.
In addition, as well as writing for Anakin, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Padme Amidala, R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Maul, Jabba the Hutt and Cad Bane, I also got to write for Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren and Zeb Orrelios, four of the main cast from the Star Wars: Rebels cartoon series, helping to bring them into the world of Disney Infinity as playable characters.
There were plans in motion with Disney Interactive and Ninja Theory to revisit the worlds of Star Wars in Disney Infinity – we’d worked on a cancelled Rebels playset concept and were developing a new one with the working title Seeds of Rebellion, set around the time period of the movie Rogue One – but sadly in 2016 Disney decided to pull the plug on the game and the Disney Interactive studio was closed down. I hope I’ll get the chance to return to the Galaxy Far, Far Away to tell some other future stories…
