Firewall takes place in 2015, two years after the events depicted in the videogame Splinter Cell: Blacklist, where Sam Fisher and Fourth Echelon fought the terrorist group known as The Engineers; and four years prior to the Operation Watchman mission in Bolivia, as seen in the Ghost Recon Wildlands game, where Sam joins the Ghosts special forces team for a top-secret covert infiltration.
Firewall won the 2023 International Association of Media Tie-In Writers (IAMTW) award in the Best Original & Adapted Novel category.
An audiobook edition of Firewall was published by RBMedia, and an eight-episode full-cast radio adaptation was produced by BBC Audio Drama North and broadcast on BBC Radio 4. A German-language edition has been published by Cross Cult, and French-language edition has been published by 404.
The BBC Radio 4 adaptation of Firewall won 2023’s Gold Award in the Binaural Drama Category at the Grand Prix Nova International Radio Drama Festival.
