On July 27th 1997, the chevrons locked and the Stargate opened; after the success of the 1994 science fiction movie Stargate, MGM decided that they would bring their franchise to television with the launch of the TV series Stargate SG-1, a present-day action show about a team of heroes exploring the galaxy, fighting alien bad guys and taking part in high adventures…
Stargate SG-1 would run for an amazing ten seasons, spinning off two TV movies (Ark of Truth and Continuum), two companion shows with Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, the animated series Stargate Infinity, the web-series Stargate Origins and much more – making it one of the most robust sci-fi franchises in TV history.

But that’s not all I got to work on…
Today marks the Silver Anniversary of the first episode of Stargate SG-1, and among the celebrations of the fandom (and the hopeful talk of a new Stargate incarnation on the horizon), the folks over at Big Finish Productions are re-releasing their long-out-of-print Stargate audio drama series based on SG-1 and Atlantis, in new digital box-sets – including my stories Shell Game, Zero Point, First Prime and Half Life.
Licensing issues have meant that the Big Finish audios have been unavailable for several years, and I’m thrilled to see them back out in the world for a whole new audience to enjoy!
Working on the audios was a great experience – I got to write for actors Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson), Claudia Black (Vala Mal Doran), Christopher Judge (Teal’c) and David Nykl (Radek Zelenka) and with the Series 3 releases I was promoted to story editor, taking on a “showrunner” role to build a six-part story arc with a team of very talented writers.
